Our priorities for 2009
A list of Conservation Northwest's top priorities for 2009
Recent election results present a new day of opportunity for wildlife and wildlands conservation. Today we're eager, ready, and poised to take on exciting priorities for our work this coming year as we connect and protect old growth and other wild areas from the Washington Coast to the BC Rockies.
Our major goals for 2009 are several:
- Protecting wildlands in the Columbia Highlands by working with members of Congress to introduce a wilderness/restoration plan for the Colville National Forest.
- Gaining legislative protection for old-growth forests on public lands in the Northwest.
- Helping reverse eleventh-hour Bush administration regulations dangerous to wildlife and wildlands.
- Continuing to protect endangered wildlife, while keeping thoughtful watch on issues of importance to animals from lynx to wolverine and working for state funding to support management of Washington's wolves and recovery of the North Cascades grizzly bear.
