Hiking expert and life-long outdoorsman Craig Romano will share his passion for the Columbia Highlands in word and image, underlining the importance of maintaining critical wildlife corridors and a healthy, balanced ecosystem.
Cherished for its vastness, its lack of human intervention, its rejuvenating properties, and its abundant wildlife, the Columbia Highlands is Washington's Last Great Place. Subtly beautiful, ecologically important, and known by few outside of the region, the Columbia Highlands are at an important crossroads. In recent years, a grass-roots coalition including hunters, hikers, loggers, business owners, Native people, and others, has organized to protect and restore the area.
At this unique event, co sponsored by Conservation Northwest, author Craig Romano will draw from his book, COLUMBIA HIGHLANDS: Exploring Washington's Last Frontier, to highlight the unique landscape, plants, animals, and people of the region, as well as point out some of his favorite hikes.
