Mar 24 - Pre-order native plants now thru Mar 12. Then celebrate spring! Get your native plants, seedlings, & shrubs at Whatcom Conservation District's Annual Plant Sale & Expo.

Come join the Whatcom Conservation District (WCD) in their celebration of spring by purchasing low cost native plants at WCD’s Annual Plant Sale and Expo!

This year there will be 41 different species of native, bareroot trees and shrubs along with a variety of potted perennials. Some of this year’s species include Alaska yellow and western red cedars, Western white pine, evergreen huckleberry, russet buffaloberry, serviceberry and more!

Pre-orders must be received at the WCD office by Mon, Mar 12, 2012 and require a $100 min purchase. A 50% deposit is due upon pre-order placement. Payment must be made by cash or check.

Pre-order pick up will be available before the open sale on Fri, Mar 23 between 9:00am-3:00pm, at the site of the sale. Orders can also be picked up at the Open Sale Saturday, Mar 24th.

Once again, several local nursery vendors and environmental organizations will be there to provide even more plant purchasing options. The festivities include a variety of fun, earth-friendly educational opportunities, entertainment and food.

The purpose of the WCD’s annual plant sale is to promote the stewardship and conservation of our natural resources. Planting native trees and shrubs can provide many positive benefits to your property and the natural environment such as improved water quality, enhanced fish and wildlife habitat, reduction of wind and soil erosion, cleaner air, reduction of energy costs, and beautification of your property.

Proceeds support the district's conservation education programs.
