The hike up Hoodoo Canyon from Trout Lake to Emerald Lake is a classic, low-elevation Inland Northwest hike. From the cool, wet cedar forest around the trailhead, you climb steadily up the canyon, passing old growth ponderosa pines and towering rock formations before dropping down to beautiful, aptly named Emerald Lake, perfect for a refreshing swim. Hoodoo is one of the largest remaining low-elevation roadless areas in the Kettle River Range. Wear or bring along a swim suit. Appropriate for fit kids of all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult.
