Habitat restoration with Gravity Payments

Conservation Northwest / Sep 22, 2016 / Work Updates

A huge thank you to the Gravity Payments team who volunteered with us over the weekend! We had a great group join us on Snoqualmie Pass to help pull invasive weeds and re-vegetate near Gold Creek.

Through our I-90 Wildlife Corridor Campaign, we engage volunteers to create more inviting wildlife habitat in the Gold Creek area by Keechelus Lake, which is near two wildlife underpasses that provide safe passage for animals moving north-south across the interstate. By weeding, mulching, and planting native vegetation, our volunteer groups help restore and improve habitat for fish and wildlife near the crossings, encouraging them to pass safely under I-90.

Conservation Northwest administers the I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition, and together with WSDOT and other partners we’re working to address the six-lane barrier of Interstate 90 by integrating wildlife crossing structures that provide safer passage over and under the roadway as part of the I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East ProjectLearn more about wildlife crossings, our I-90 Wildlife Corridor Campaign, which includes land conservation, habitat restoration, and wildlife monitoring in addition to supporting wildlife crossings, at this webpage

Thank you again to our wonderful volunteers from Gravity Payments for braving the rain and helping us keep the Northwest wild!

There have been exciting new developments on the Keechelus Lake Wildlife Overcrossing! See our news update for more information.
