Wolf letter to the editor
A letter to the editor of the Chewelah Independent expressing support for wolves in Washington and the wolf recovery plan.
Editor,
The wolf plays a valuable role in a healthy ecosystem. Their presence is a vital aspect in our natural world of checks and balances. The role they serve is as old as the circle of life itself; thousands, perhaps millions of years. The wolf is an icon of this country's wild legacy.
I realize that the wolf is competing for game animals with us humans, poses an occasional threat to our livestock but I would like to think that we could tolerate some competition, some threat so that the wolf could be once again part of our natural area.
A world without the wolf would be a sad world, a very unnatural world; therefor, I support the wolf recovery program and hope for its success.
