Cow depredation confirmed within territory of Teanaway wolves

The cow belonged to one of seven Washington ranchers currently partnering with Conservation Northwest to implement “range riders”, herd supervisors that help deter depredations as the region’s wolf population recovers and their territory overlaps with public forest land now used in part for livestock grazing.

In June, the federal agencies released a summary report of the approximately 3,000 comments submitted during the scoping period. We are happy to say that of those who submitted comments in support of or opposition to grizzly bear restoration, supporters outweighed opponents by over 5 to 1!

That’s why we’re endorsing Initiative 1401, a campaign here in Washington State to strengthen penalties on the criminal enterprises that buy and sell products made from endangered species.
