Washington Watershed Restoration Initiative wins Forest Service's 2009 National Watershed Award.
Conservation Northwest is a proud member of the Washington Watershed Restoration Initiative and now we're especially proud. This month the Forest Service announced that the coalition won a 2009 National Watershed Award for raising public awareness to address road and trail impacts on watersheds and fish habitat. By using media, and networking and testifying to Congress, our efforts have resulted in the allocation of over $90 million dollars to repair degrading roads and trails within National Forest System Lands.
WWRI members include:
Washington State Department of Ecology, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Alpine Lakes Protection Society, American Whitewater, Cascade Chapter-Sierra Club, Conservation Northwest, Gifford Pinchot Task Force, North Cascades Conservation Council, Olympic Forest Coalition, Pacific Rivers Council, Pilchuck Audubon Society, The Mountaineers, The Wilderness Society, Washington Trails Association, Washington Wilderness Coalition, and Wildlands CPR
