Mitch, meet pastry

Posted by Barbara Christensen at Friday May 16, 2008 08:12 AM |

I am in Spokane today, but rest assured, bears are still the star in Bellingham! I received an email from Mitch's cell phone yesterday, and, as you can see, fun was had and bears appreciated! And today is the big day...are you ready for Lil Griz and her furry pink sidekick?

Mitch, meet pastry

Mitch enjoys berries like a bear, and remembers that we can give bears in the North Cascades the protection they need to thrive!

Yum! Mitch visted Avellino and Avenue Bread with friends and snapped a photo of what looks to be a scrumptious pastry! Did you save me any?

One more day of bear aware specials, and tonight is Groovin' for Grizziles!  Will you be there to dance, play, and celebrate the living legacy of the North Cascades grizzly?

The very symbol of American wilderness, grizzlies once roamed over most of western North America, from the mountains of Mexico to the high plains to the Pacific Coast. Sadly, there are likely fewer than 20 grizzlies in the North Cascades of Washington and BC, but now is the time to ensure their successful recovery.
A recovery plan exists and needs to be implemented, and you can help that happen! Offer your voice for grizzlies and have some fun with us tonight at Groovin'!

coverAnd if the idea of great music--Yogoman's WIld Rumpus, Wisconsin Slim, and Lucky Brown--good company, great beer, and some yummy barbeque isn't enough to get you out to the Boundary Bay Bear Garden tonight, our very own Rose Oliver and local actress and writer Krissa Woiwod promise to rule the show. They are featured on the cover of this week's Cascadia Weekly!

I hope people appreciate the sacrifices involved in saving biodiversity. It takes a real man to recover grizzlies thru the act of eating a lemon bear claw.
