A win for wildlife came down the pipe yesterday! State wildlife officials dropped the idea of introducing non-native wild turkeys in Whatcom County after, according to the Bellingham Herald, 87% of the public comments came out against the idea. This is good news for native species, since little is known about the effects of introduced wild turkeys. It is also good news for local farmers, who faced potential crop losses from "turkeys gone wild." (Now that's a bad TV show if I ever heard one.) Thanks to all who responded to our call for action here on Scat!
