Two early June events in northeastern Washington feature the history and dynamics of wilderness protection in the United States, highlighting local wilderness efforts for lands in the northeastern Washington, from the Kettle Crest to Hall Mountain.

In word and image, wilderness visionary Doug Scott explores what wilderness means to individual Americans, reading from his new book, Our Wilderness: America’s Common Ground.

Doug Scott is policy director for the Campaign for America's Wilderness. For three decades he has served his country for wilderness, from passage of the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho to protection of Alaska wilderness as part of The Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act.
