This fall hundreds of citizens showed up at a round of twelve public hearings held around the state on recovery of Washington's wolves. The hearings were held from October 20 to November 10 in Clarkston, Richland, Yakima, Colville, Spokane, Omak, Wenatchee, Vancouver Aberdeen, Seattle, Mount Vernon, and Sequim.
The draft wolf plan came about after two years of hard work by members of the Washington State Wolf Working Group, a group that included Conservation Northwest, on how to best conserve and manage wolves returning to our state after many decades of absence. Written public comment is being accepted till January 8.
Send a letter for wolves. Let the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Washington Wildlife Commissioners know that you value wolves and their positive effect on ecosystems and wish to see their recovery to our state's wildlife and habitat.
