Conservation Northwest / Oct 01, 2019 / Events, Grizzly Bears, North Cascades

Join us and a panel of special guests for a film screening and discussion about North Cascades grizzly bears on October 17th in Winthrop!

Biologists estimate fewer than five grizzly bears remain in Washington’s North Cascades. We have a critical opportunity now to restore their population.

Join us in Winthrop on October 17 for a film screening of Time for the Grizzly and a panel discussion about their recovery in the North Cascades.

Please join us on October 17th, when a trio of grizzly bear experts will come to the Winthrop Barn to talk about grizzly bear recovery here in Washington state. The evening will feature award-winning conservationist, ecologist and TV host and film producer Chris Morgan’s short film Time for the Grizzly. Methow Valley Citizens Council Executive Director Jasmine Minbashian will also lead a discussion with filmmaker Chris Morgan and grizzly bear experts Dr. Bill Gaines of Leavenworth, and Jack Oelfke, Chief of Cultural & Natural Resources at North Cascades National Park. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the program starts 7:00 p.m.

RSVP today!

Time for the Grizzly will set the stage for a discussion about the latest update in the North Cascades grizzly bear recovery effort. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and National Park Service recently reopened the public comment period for the draft environmental plan around North Cascades Grizzly Bear Restoration.

Learn more from experts about grizzly bears, including efforts around the restoration plan and how you can speak up for the Great Bear!

The event is free and suitable for all ages with complimentary coffee, snacks and desserts provided. Beer from Old Schoolhouse Brewery will be available for a small fee. Get your FREE tickets here!

We’re excited to be co-hosting this event with the Methow Valley Citizens Council, with support from the National Parks Conservation Association and Defenders of Wildlife. Each is a supporting organization of the Friends of the North Cascades Grizzly Bear Coalition, an independent and informal partnership supporting the restoration of a healthy and functioning grizzly bear population in the North Cascades Ecosystem.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Winthrop Barn!

can’t make it? you can still SPEAK UP FOR GRIZZLY BEARS by submitting a public comment on the restoration plan.
